Latin Reflection Biographies

  

Mike Rodriguez - Mike started taking salsa classes at La Salsa De Hoy in May of 2000 with Carlos Vasquez and then with Ray Colon.  Shortly after this Mike started the Latin Reflections Dance Team in February of 2001.  Their first performance was in May of 2001.  Mike teaches adult beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes at La Salsa De Hoy and Dance Atlantic.  Aside from dancing, Mike has a BS and MS in Secondary Math Education and teaches Math (Algebra through Calculus) and Computer Science classes (currently, A+, Network+, Security+) at Brooklyn Technical High School.

                        

 Pasquale Ceriello - Pasquale is a 26 year old electrician from Brooklyn. Pasquale started taking salsa classes at La Salsa De Hoy in the summer of 2006.  He was taught by Mike Rodriguez.  After completing all levels of turn patterns and shines at LaSalsaDeHoy, Pasquale took classes at Salsa Salsa and Lorenz Latin Dance Studio.  Pasquale joined Latin Reflections in 2007. Pasquale has recently performed at the 2009 Boston Salsa Congress and 2009 Connecticut Salsa Festival. 

 

   

Yan Klats - Yan started taking classes with Mike at LaSalsaDeHoy in March 2008. In November 2008 he joined the Latin Reflections team and had his debut performance in June 2009 at Café Iguanas performing Congas Y Timbales. In his professional career, Yan has co-found an online advertising network, Global Interactive, LLC, where he now serves as a VP of Sales and Client Services being responsible for the company sales and client retention activities.

Sal Didino - Sal started taking classes at LaSalsaDeHoy with Carolyn Hulse in the summer of 2007. He then took classes with Sonia and Abner, instructors at LaSalsaDeHoy. He joined Mike's class in 2008. He graduated from PolyTech University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and currently owns several cell phone stores.

 

 

  

Nathaly Cosme Nathaly started taking classes at LaSalsaDeHoy in 2003 in the kids program first with Sandra Torres then with Mike Rodriguez.  She joined Latin Reflections in 2007 and made her debut performance at a Tropical Image social in April 2008.  Nathaly recently performed at the 2009 Connecticut Salsa Festival. Nathaly continues to take classes at LaSalsaDeHoy with Mike Rodriguez.  

 

Vanessa Sanchez - Vanessa started taking teenage classes at LaSalsaDeHoy in 2003.  In 2006 she began taking classes with Mike Rodriguez, and joined Latin Reflections that summer.  She made her debut performance at the Latin Fever social in September 2006.  Most recently she performed at the 2008 Connecticut Salsa Festival, 2008 Philadelphia Salsa Congress and 2008 New York Salsa Congress Welcome Party, 2009 Boston Salsa Congress and the 2009 Connecticut Salsa Festival.  Vanessa is a Registered Nurse.

     

 

Paige Tyson- Paige started  taking classes at La Salsa de Hoy in 2006. She began taking classes with Hiram and then advanced with Mike Rodriguez.  She joined Latin Reflections in November 2008 and had her debut performance at the Latin Rhythm Social in February 2009. Paige recently performed at the 2009 Boston Salsa Congress and the 2009 Connecticute Salsa Fest.  Paige is a licensed occupational therapist and works in a  public school in the lower east side of Manhattan.

     

Julianna Zhou  Enrolled in dance since the age of 2 1/2, dancing and performing is Julianna’s number one passion. Fluent in multiple types of dance, Julianna practices tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and her newest love interest, salsa. She joined Latin Reflections in June 2009.  Already with a BS in International Criminal Justice, she is currently pursuing her MA in Criminal Justice at John Jay College. "Dance is a way of life. It's something that you hunger and you thirst everyday."

 

Lissette Lara- As a young child Lissette always loved dancing at her family gatherings.  She danced ballet, tap, jazz, and point from the ages of 12-15.  Dancing has always been a passion in her life.  In 2000, she lost her mother and turned to dancing. She soon decided to learn how to dance salsa with Ray Colon at La Salsa de Hoy. She has been dancing on and off since then, taking classes with Mike Rodriguez and other instructors from La Salsa de Hoy. Lissette made the choice to take her dancing to a new level and joined Latin Reflections in January of 2009.  Lissette is currently student at Berkeley College and plans  on receiving her Bachelor’s in Fashion Marketing and Management.
